Yesterday we had a fisher visit us in the backyard. A couple of these pictures were taken by my husband as I have injured my shoulder and can only hold the camera with one hand. It’s difficult to get a sharp photo.

Fishers are part of the weasel family. They aren’t seen very often as they are apparently shy. This one seemed more curious about us than anything.

Fishers do not eat fish. I wonder how they got their name. They eat
rabbits, rodents and birds and they can kill and eat porcupines.

They are not dangerous to humans. However, if they cannot find their usual prey, they may kill domestic cats.
