According to Ducks Unlimited many female ducks of different kinds will pretend to have an injury such as a broken wing if they are trying to draw you or a predator away from their babies.
We live on a lake, and have many mallards around us, but we had never seen this happen until last week when we were at PresquÃle Provincial Park. We’ve seen killdeer do this, but never ducks.
We met this duck and her ducklings when we were out on a hike. Eventually she went into the bush and we were able to walk by her. God has certainly put good instincts into the creatures He created.
