Brown Creepers are very difficult to spot. They blend in with the trees, and are hard to see. My husband spots them easier than I do.
A brown creeper is about 5 inches in size, which is smaller than a nuthatch. They often look like a piece of bark from the difference.
Brown creepers go up and down the tree looking for insect eggs, insects, beetles, true bugs, caterpillars, ants, spiders, and some seeds. They also like to feed on suet and peanut-butter mixtures.
We haven’t seen one at our feeders or suet, but have seen them on the tree in the backyard a few times. It’s always a treat to see them.
