Last week we went to the Bonnechere Caves. It was a treat, especially since the weather was so hot and humid outside. Inside the caves, it is a cool 10 degrees Celsius.
Some of the places were lower and narrower. Taller people needed to crouch down to get through.
The next two pictures are of stalactites. They look like icicles hanging down and take many years to form. We were reminded to not touch the drops on the ends of the stalactites, as this is the way that they “grow” and we would slow the process down.
This next picture is the ceiling of one area in the caves. Bats come and hang from the ceiling here.
In another area, the ceiling had collapsed. We were assured that it was perfectly safe, and that this had happened a long time ago.
