Flowerpot Island is an interesting place to visit. On our recent trip, we went to Tobermory, Ontario and took a boat cruise out around the island. We were able to spend some time on the island, and the flowerpot formations were the highlight of the visit.
The Flowerports were formed over may years. They were once a cliff at the water’s edge and the elements (wind, rain, waves, ice) eroded the softer rock. The harder rock remains and looks like a flowerpot.
Only two of the original three flowerpots are still existing. It may look like there are more when you look at the pictures, but they tend to look different depending on the angle you are looking at them.
It’s amazing how the trees are growing on them. There isn’t much soil there for them to grow in.
