We have been enjoying seeing the Canada Geese and their goslings – as long as they aren’t on our beach. It’s interesting as we watch them. The little ones stay very close to the adults.

The goslings have yellowish down. Their eyes are open when they are born and within 2 days they can walk, swim, feed and dive.

Goslings leave the nest within 24 hours and follow their parents. In about 2 months, they will be able to start learning to fly.

Canada Geese mate for life and stay together throughout the year. They are both involved looking after the goslings.

We have at least 2 families on the lake. The young ones have just been seen in the last week. Canada Geese will have somewhere between 2 to 8 goslings.
