The barred owl stayed in our area for a couple of days, which gave me some time to get some more photos.
It spent most of the day in the tree and was intently watching the squirrels in our yard.
I cropped a couple of photos so that we can see the face, and the feet in more detail. The claws look like they could do some serious damage.
These next few pictures show the owl with a carcass. It was in the gully behind our place and it was difficult to focus clearly through the bush. There were several ravens who wanted the carcass, but the owl guarded its find and wouldn’t let them take it.
