The wildflowers are starting to bloom in our area. I was able to go to a friend’s house and take some photos of the wildflowers “out her back door”.
Trout Lily: This is also known as Adder’s Tongue, Dogtooth Violet, and Yellow Adder’s Tongue.
Dutchman’s Breeches: or Soldier’s Cap. The name of the plant comes from the shape of the individual flowers that resemble tiny pantaloons.
Red Trillium: This one has a lot of other names: American True-Love, Birthroot, Bumblebee Root, Ill-scented Wake-Robin, Indian Shamrock, Purple Trillium, Stinking Benjamin, Stinking Willie, Threeleaf Nightshade, Wake-robin.
Spring Beauty: Also known as Mayflower, Fairy Spuds, Good Morning Spring, Grass Beauty. They are tiny but beautiful.
